1. Overland (Aurora)
2013-14 Record: 20-7
Head Coach: Danny Fisher

The only thing standing between Overland and the Class 5A state title game a year ago was eventual champion Denver East. The Trailblazers return the heart of a team that averaged 67 points a game. Seniors Austin Conway (University of Denver) and Ryan Swan (Air Force Academy) have already committed to play at the next level. Junior DeRon Davis led the team in scoring and is a highly sought-after Division I recruit.

2. Eaglecrest (Centennial)
2013-14 Record:
19-7
Head Coach: John Olander

The Raptors are always among the elite in Class 5A, and this season should be no exception. Eaglecrest just missed out on a state semifinal berth, and even after graduating its leading scorer, the team has plenty back in the fold. Seniors Blend Avdili and Elijah Ross both played big roles in the team's postseason run.

3. Denver East
2013-14 Record:
24-4
Head Coach: Rudy Carey

The Angels are the defending state champions in Class 5A, and while some big names (Dominique Collier, Ronnie Harrell, Jevon Griffin) have moved on, Denver East always reloads. Guard Brian Carey is back to lead a group eager to prove it can pick up where last year's class left off.

4. Mountain Vista (Highlands Ranch)
2013-14 Record:
25-2
Head Coach: Robert Wood

Like Overland, Mountain Vista also just missed out on a spot in the title game. Jake Pemberton's 19 points per game will be missed, but the Golden Eagles were a balanced squad last winter. Seniors Brady Subart and Ray Beresford will do their part in trying to send Mountain Vista on another ride this season.

5. Colorado Academy (Denver)
2013-14 Record:
24-3
Head Coach: Steve Hyatt

Colorado Academy may have finished as the runner-up last year in Class 3A, but the Mustangs return the core of that squad. Junior Justin Bassey averaged more than 20 points per game a year ago, and senior Chris Kuelling (14 ppg) and junior Christian Hyatt (14.5) also finished in double figures. Two of the team's three losses came to eventual champion Holy Family.
