Softball Recap: O'connor's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, O'Connor's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 14-10 to the Pinnacle Pioneers. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Raegan Holtorf and Charleigh Schuettler did some serious damage despite the final result: Holtorf fired off two home runs and one double while going 4-for-5, while Schuettler went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Holtorf has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Avery Gourlay was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

O'Connor's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Pinnacle, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. O'Connor will challenge Perry at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pumas have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Pinnacle, they will face off against Mountain Ridge at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Mountain Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Pioneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
