Basketball Recap: Mar Vista Piles Up the Points Against Southwest EC

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mar Vista). They breezed by the Southwest EC Eagles to the tune of 77-49 on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mariners as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mar Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Omar Krenbeh, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 30 points and six boards. What's more, Krenbeh also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Braylon Shumate, who went 6 of 10 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Mar Vista was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Mar Vista's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5. As for Southwest EC, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Mar Vista and Chula Vista will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Chula Vista will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Mar Vista surely won't give up without a fight. Southwest EC will take on Imperial in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
