Baseball Game Preview: Mamaroneck Tigers vs. White Plains Tigers

Mamaroneck will head out on the road to square off against White Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mamaroneck will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Mamaroneck came out on top against Mount Vernon on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Tigers blew past the Knights 11-1. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, White Plains fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Mamaroneck on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Mamaroneck by a score of 8-7. White Plains' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Gavin Townsend was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Tyler Older made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Declan Brown also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Mamaroneck's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for White Plains, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
