Basketball Recap: Nansemond River Falls Short Against Ranked King's Fork

On Friday, Nansemond River faced King's Fork in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Nansemond River Warriors fell to the King's Fork Bulldogs 51-46. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Jordin Richardson and Brittany Evans certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Richardson dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds, while Evans posted 16 points and three steals. The matchup was Richardson's 20th in a row with at least 19 points.

Nansemond River's record is now 15-5. As for King's Fork, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Looking ahead, Nansemond River will welcome Grassfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grassfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Nansemond River likes a good challenge. As for King's Fork, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Great Bridge at 6:00 p.m.
