Baseball Recap: Maryville Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Maryville Christian dropped their record down to 16-10 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Alcoa Tornadoes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since April 3rd.

As for Alcoa, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

For Alcoa's part, Mason Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Martin was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Myles Cox, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Graf, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Maryville Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-3 victory against Victory Christian on the 29th. Alcoa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
