Football Recap: Fairfax Stampede vs. Buena Colts
Fairfax couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Buena Colts 68-19 on Friday. The Stampede just can't catch a break and have now endured 11 losses in a row dating back to last season.
Michael Branch and Jesus Gurule certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Branch picked up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Gurule threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns. Branch got the majority of those yards when he pulled down a pass and and took off for a gain of54 yards. A healthy portion of that aerial production (104 yards to be exact) also went to Vincent Quadrozzi.
Nash Moore was a one-man wrecking crew for Buena as he threw for 231 yards and five touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. Andres Bonilla helped Moore out on the ground, rushing for 109 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Fairfax will square off against Verrado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Buena, they will welcome Ironwood Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
