Softball Recap: Pulaski County Cougars vs. Cave Spring Knights
Pulaski County extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-7 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Cave Spring Knights. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 9, 2023, but that streak is no more.
As for Cave Spring, they now have a winning record of 7-6. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
For Cave Spring's part, Caitlyn Karnes made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Karnes has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Cave Spring got a big performance out of Danica Ogle, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Jovie Miller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pulaski County will square off against Blacksburg at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cave Spring, they will face off against Lord Botetourt at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
