Recap: Rodriguez Mustangs vs. Armijo Royals
The Rodriguez Mustangs won the last time they faced the Armijo Royals, and things went their way on Friday too. Rodriguez took down Armijo 30-14. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rodriguez.
Rodriguez found their leader in underclassman Jermaine Missouri, who picked up 78 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Missouri was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards. Another big playmaker for Rodriguez was Jeffery Missouri, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Armijo to a paltry 193 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Rodriguez's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out eight times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Isaiah Angulo and Ka?shaun Gresham who racked up six sacks between them.
Rodriguez has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Armijo, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-2.
Rodriguez will head out on the road to face off against Wood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wood is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Armijo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vacaville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
