Softball Recap: Gateway College Preparatory Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Gateway College Preparatory put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lampasas Badgers a 10-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Badgers: they've now won six in a row.

The team relied heavily on April Monge, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Carolina Rivera was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Gateway College Preparatory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lampasas only posted an OBP of .000.

Gateway College Preparatory pushed their record up to 19-1-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8 runs. As for Lampasas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gateway College Preparatory will challenge rival Salado at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gators 1.3, the Eagles 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Lampasas is set to square off against their familiar foe Burnet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
