Baseball Game Preview: Highland Hawks vs. Verrado Vipers

The Highland Hawks will take on the Verrado Vipers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

While Hawks fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. They blew past Tolleson 7-1 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Hawks have posted since April 10, 2024.

Cayden Hammond was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Hammond was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

In other batting news, Nixon Harnish and Beau Tarwater did most of the damage at the plate: Harnish scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Tarwater scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mason Porter, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Meanwhile, Verrado and Deer Valley finished up their matchup with a 4-4 draw on Thursday.
