Recap: Curtis Baptist Crusaders vs. Cambridge Academy Cougars
The Curtis Baptist Crusaders entered their tilt with the Cambridge Academy Cougars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Curtis Baptist came out on top against Cambridge Academy by a score of 52-39 on Tuesday. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as Curtis Baptist did.
Curtis Baptist found their leader in underclassman Maci Butler, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Butler is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyla Robinson, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Cambridge Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jillian Mapes. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Alex Cockrell was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Curtis Baptist's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Cambridge Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
Curtis Baptist will head out on the road to face off against Jefferson Davis Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Cambridge Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Easley HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m.
