Recap: Mabank Panthers vs. Community Braves
The Mabank Panthers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 20-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of Community. Mabank lost against Community in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 37-14 score last time.
Although Mabank took the loss, they still got scores from Pierce Fulton and Kaden Penland.
Leading Community to victory were Gabe Duron and Brandon Mills jr.. Duron rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns, while Mills jr. rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.
Mabank's defeat was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.0 points per game. As for Community, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.
Mabank will take on Paris at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Paris presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mabank in Texas (Paris is ranked 297th, while Mabank is ranked 824th). As for Community, they will head out on the road to face off against Kaufman at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
