Football Recap: KIPP Columbus Jaguars vs. Bishop Hartley Hawks

KIPP Columbus extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They took a 39-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop Hartley Hawks. Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malachi Wilder-Anderson, who picked up 103 receiving yards and one TD. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 63 yards. KIPP Columbus also got help from Jaysen Quartey, who showed off his sure hands for 80 receiving yards.

Robert Lathon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 136 yards and three scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also picking up 88 receiving yards and one touchdown. Bishop Hartley is 3-1 when Lathon posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

KIPP Columbus didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-14 defeat against Harvest Prep on the 24th. As for Bishop Hartley, they have also already played their next contest, a 23-21 loss against St. Francis DeSales on the 24th.
