Softball Game Preview: Warhill Lions vs. Tuscarora Huskies

The Warhill Lions will challenge the Tuscarora Huskies at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Warhill's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Tuscarora's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Warhill is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Caroline a 1-0 shutout.

Not much got past Skyler Wilson, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Caroline off the board.

On the hitting side, Warhill secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Payton Auerbach - GMU, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three match, Tuscarora brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They blew past Millbrook 10-0 on Tuesday. The Huskies' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

The result came thanks to Peyton Travis's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Warhill has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Tuscarora, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.
