Basketball Recap: Steele Canyon Find Success

Steele Canyon's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They snuck past the Mount Miguel Matadors with a 55-50 victory. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 66-59 loss the last time these two teams met.

Defeat or not, Mount Miguel got some senior leadership from Hamad Elhamad and Jamell Willey. Elhamad went 9 of 12 en route to 20 points and five rebounds, while Willey went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points.

Steele Canyon now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Mount Miguel, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Steele Canyon will face off against El Capitan at 6:30 p.m. on January 21st. As for Mount Miguel, they will square off against Monte Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monte Vista will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Mount Miguel surely won't give up without a fight.
