Basketball Recap: Yuma Skates Past Gila Ridge with Ease

There's no place like home for Yuma, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They really took it to the Gila Ridge Hawks for the full four quarters, racking up an 85-48 victory. The Criminals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 23 points or more this season.

Yuma's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Amador led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten assists. Amador's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Andy Mosqueda, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Yuma smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Yuma has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Gila Ridge, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Yuma will challenge Cortez at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cortez knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Yuma likes a good challenge. As for Gila Ridge, they will face off against Kofa at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Gila Ridge is facing Kofa at the right time seeing as Kofa is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
