While Lamar's victory against Monett wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Cubs 27-24. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Cubs: they've now won five in a row.

Monett's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Washick, who threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Meeks, who picked up 100 receiving yards and one score.

Lamar now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Monett, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-3.

Lamar wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 42-20 victory against Aurora on the 17th. As for Monett, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-46 defeat against Cassville on the 17th.
