Baseball Recap: Eight Straight Road Victories for Seaholm

Seaholm waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Ferndale Eagles. The Maples might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by nine runs or more this season.

Patrick Hughes was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Hughes was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-5. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Cobie Early was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nick Davis, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Seaholm hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ferndale struck out ten times.

Seaholm pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ferndale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Seaholm will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
