Newton is a perfect 10-0 against Marshall since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Eagles will challenge the Lions at 6:00 p.m.

Newton is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Mt. Carmel just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Golden Aces by a score of 2-1.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Newton sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 17-25, 25-11.

Meanwhile, Marshall came tearing into Tuesday's contest with six straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Salukis by a score of 2-0.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Marshall took both sets by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-15.

Marshall's victory bumped their record up to 19-6. As for Newton, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-11.

Newton beat Marshall 2-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
