The Faith Christian Patriots will challenge the John Paul II Catholic Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
John Paul II Catholic will be up against a hot Faith Christian team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Faith Christian's pitchers stepped up to hand Halifax Academy a 14-0 shutout on Thursday. The game marked the Patriots' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Ashton Lascallette was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Wilson, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Faith Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for John Paul II Catholic, as they earned their first road win of the season. Everything went their way against Coastal Christian on Thursday as John Paul II Catholic made off with a 15-1 win.
Adam Donofrio was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, JT Williams and Max Mason did most of the damage at the plate: Williams went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Mason scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. John Paul II Catholic is undefeated when Williams posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Joseph Caporosssi was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
John Paul II Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. Faith Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Faith Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like John Paul II Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
