Basketball Recap: Baker County Piles Up the Points Against First Coast

The Baker County Wildcats humbled the First Coast Buccaneers with a 50-14 victory. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly 36 points.

Yamise Haygood had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 23 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Holland, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Baker County was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as First Coast only posted five.

Baker County has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 50.5 points this season. As for First Coast, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Baker County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Middleburg at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd. As for First Coast, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-26 defeat against Clay on the 24th.
