Softball Game Preview: De Soto Pirates vs. Kickapoo Panthers

The De Soto Pirates will face off against the Kickapoo Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in De Soto's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Kickapoo has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

De Soto took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Seneca, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pirates had just enough and edged out the Indians 10-9.

Sylvia Krueger was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Rainey Joseph was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: De Soto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Kickapoo's offense. They lost 16-0 to Riverdale on Tuesday.

De Soto's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Kickapoo, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Everything went De Soto's way against Kickapoo in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as De Soto made off with a 9-0 win. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
