Basketball Recap: Eastern Wayne Comes Up Short

If Eastern Wayne was feeling good fresh off their 70-47 takedown of Wayne Preparatory Academy on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Wayne Country Day Chargers an easy 73-51 win. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, Eastern Wayne still got an impressive performance from Levi Evans, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 15 points and six boards. Evans is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. Izeiah Oates was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Eastern Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Wayne Country Day, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Eastern Wayne will be taking part in a tournament against Harrells Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least 55 points in their last 13 games. As for Wayne Country Day, they will take on KIPP College Prep in a tournament on Friday.
