University School starts season with victory against Padua Franciscan

University School gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Padua Franciscan Bruins. That result was just more of the same for these two, as University School also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.
Riley Penn made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (he also only allowed one walk). Penn was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.
Penn wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Moss, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
University School will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Beachwood at 5:00 p.m. on April 3rd. As for Padua Franciscan, they will take on Friends' Central at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
