Basketball Recap: Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators vs. Aletheia Christian Academy Lions
After losing to the Aletheia Christian Academy Lions the last time they met, the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Gulf Pointe Latin walked away with a 31-19 victory over the Lions on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Gulf Pointe Latin.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gulf Pointe Latin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Coral Hamer, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and six steals. Hamer has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Matthews, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Riley Glazier, who scored three points along with six steals and three blocks. Bella Simmons was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Gulf Pointe Latin's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10. As for Aletheia Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.
Gulf Pointe Latin will square off against the at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Aletheia Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
