Volleyball Recap: Murphy Gets the Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Murphy had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Elkin Buckin' Elks.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (100-97) Murphy actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-21, 18-25, 25-16, 14-25, 15-13.

Murphy found their leader in sophomore Saddie Cornwell, who had 17 digs and one assist. Cornwell has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times she's played.

The victory got Murphy back to even at 11-11. As for Elkin, their loss dropped their record down to 9-16.

Murphy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Cornerstone Charter on the 21st. Elkin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
