Redwood proved they can win big last Friday (they won by seven) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Heritage Patriots, sneaking past 8-6. The victory was nothing new for the Giants as they're now sitting on four straight.
Maxim Wells looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Chase Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. TJ Beck was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Redwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Redwood's record is now 8-5-1. As for Heritage, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.
Looking ahead, Redwood is taking a road trip to take on Foothill at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Giants 3.3, the Falcons 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Heritage, they will take on Berean Christian in a tournament on Friday.
