Softball Game Preview: Wilcox Chargers vs. Los Gatos Wildcats

Wilcox hasn't had much luck against Los Gatos recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Chargers are taking a road trip to take on the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m.

King's Academy hit Wilcox with a six-run fourth inning two weeks ago, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers lost 10-0 to the Knights. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Chargers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Los Gatos, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Westmont on Monday.

Danica DeSantis looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Olivia Sickels was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Keira Kelly also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Los Gatos' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wilcox, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Wilcox suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Los Gatos in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
