Basketball Recap: Westbury Comes Up Short

Westbury lost against Spring Woods back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Westbury Huskies came up short against the Spring Woods Tigers, falling 54-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Huskies have suffered since December 7, 2024.

Spring Woods' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makayla Oliver led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. What's more, Oliver also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anjalena Salazar, who posted 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Westbury's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Spring Woods, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-4.

Westbury has already played their next game (against Waltrip), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Spring Woods won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Austin at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
