St. Petersburg Catholic hasn't had much luck against Clearwater Central Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Barons will square off against the Marauders at 6:00 p.m.
On Thursday, St. Petersburg Catholic came up short against Keswick Christian and fell 3-1. While the Barons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Crusaders 25-21 in the first set.
St. Petersburg Catholic started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-11, 25-13, 26-24.
Clearwater Central Catholic not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 25th (when they won 3-0). They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Osceola. The win continues a trend for the Marauders in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won six in a row.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-22, 25-23.
Clearwater Central Catholic found their leader in sophomore Megan Christian, who had 17 digs and one assist.
St. Petersburg Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: St. Petersburg Catholic has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Clearwater Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.2 aces.
