Baseball Recap: Glenbrook South Sets Scoring Season-High Against Deerfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glenbrook South). They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Deerfield Warriors on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Roger Niedermaier tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Glenbrook South is 3-1 when Niedermaier allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Anthony Nottage and Clancy Rogers did most of the damage at the plate: Nottage went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Rogers went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave Rogers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Derosena, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Glenbrook South's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Deerfield, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-8.

Glenbrook South will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
