Basketball Game Preview: El Segundo Eagles vs. Canyon Springs Cougars

The El Segundo Eagles and the Canyon Springs Cougars will compete for holiday cheer at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: El Segundo has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Canyon Springs will arrive with four straight victories.

Meanwhile, Canyon Springs was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past Heritage 65-38.

Canyon Springs' win came from a few key players El Segundo will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tyler Vann, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Kayden Mims was another key player, going 7 of 13 on his way to 14 points and four steals.

Canyon Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.

Canyon Springs has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for El Segundo, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
