Basketball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Laney

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laney). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the South Mecklenburg Sabres 70-68. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buccaneers have posted since February 27, 2024.

Colin Lamb continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 14 of 26 on his way to 29 points and seven rebounds. Those 29 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Whit Lamb, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points and five assists.

When it comes to explaining why South Mecklenburg lost on Saturday, don't look at Jim Gatehouse. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 16 on his way to 24 points. Myles Howard was another key player, putting up nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.

The victory was the seventh in a row for Laney, bringing their record for this year to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points per game. As for South Mecklenburg, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
