Softball Game Preview: South Johnston Trojans vs. C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons

The South Johnston Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Johnston is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 12 games.

South Johnston's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Fike. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ava Strickland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Cox, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Emma Williford was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, C.B. Aycock came up short against West Johnston on Friday and fell 6-1. The Golden Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South Johnston pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for C.B. Aycock, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
