Preview: Millbury Woolies vs. St. Bernard's Central Catholic Bernardians
The Millbury Woolies will head out on the road to face off against the St. Bernard's Central Catholic Bernardians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Millbury and six for St. Bernard's Central Catholic.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Millbury, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 33-14 loss to Uxbridge. While losing is never fun, Millbury can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Uxbridge is ranked 16th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Anthony Phillipo, who picked up 110 receiving yards and a touchdown. Phillipo was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 68 yards.
Meanwhile, St. Bernard's Central Catholic started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Blackstone-Millville. They took a 18-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers. That's two games in a row now that St. Bernard's Central Catholic has lost by exactly six points.
Despite the loss, St. Bernard's Central Catholic got a solid performance out of Jarius Williams, who rushed for 99 yards on only nine carries.
The losses dropped Millbury to 4-3 and St. Bernard's Central Catholic to 1-6.
