Softball Recap: Cobleskill-Richmondville Starts Season with Win on the Road

Cobleskill-Richmondville had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Johnstown Sir Bills.

Alli Prezorski spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Cobleskill-Richmondville got a massive performance out of Sophia Ruenes, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Ruenes a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Ava Yorke, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Ruenes wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Cobleskill-Richmondville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Johnstown only managed two hits.

Johnstown is on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Cobleskill-Richmondville will take on Taconic Hills at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Johnstown, they are taking a road trip to square off against Gloversville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
