Softball Recap: Lockport Takes Down Ranked Lincoln-Way East

Lockport faced Lincoln-Way East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Porters blew past the Griffins 7-1. Winning may never get old, but the Porters sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Kelcie McGraw made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

McGraw wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Lane, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Lockport pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln-Way East, they moved to 21-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lockport will head out to face off against West Aurora at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lincoln-Way East, they will venture away from home to challenge Oswego at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Griffins 1.7, the Panthers 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
