Basketball Recap: Locust Grove Comes Up Short

Locust Grove was the 51-38 winner over Hampton when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Locust Grove Wildcats took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hampton Hornets on Monday.

Hampton found their leader in sophomore C J Geiger, who posted 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Geiger has scored all season. Asa Parker was another key player, putting up nine points.

Locust Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 17-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points over those games. As for Hampton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-13.

Locust Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hampton, they will challenge McDonough at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in McDonough's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 17 matchups.
