Basketball Preview: Lovelady Lions vs. Centerville Tigers
Lovelady and the Tigers are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Lovelady Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Centerville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Lovelady scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Leon 64-43. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Lovelady just coasted through the last quarter.
Meanwhile, Centerville got the win against the Tigers on Friday by a conclusive 78-54. Given Centerville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 631st, while the Tigers are ranked 1402nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Wade Neyland, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 17 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 22 times he's played. Trayce Schwab was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
Lovelady's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-7. As for Centerville, they pushed their record up to 20-6 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home.
