Baseball Game Preview: Emmett Huskies vs. Skyview Hawks

Emmett hasn't had much luck against Skyview recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Emmett will be playing in front of their home fans against Skyview at 4:00 p.m. Emmett has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Emmett is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They lost 11-3 to Minico.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Skyview sidestepped Lewiston for a 3-1 win. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by exactly two runs.

Joe Bernal tossed a big game, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, John Tyson and Ledger Downs did most of the damage at the plate: Tyson scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Downs scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Downs also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Mason Krahn was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Skyview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewiston struck out eight times.

The victory made it two in a row for Skyview and bumps their season record up to 4-2-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Emmett, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Emmett might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Skyview when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Emmett avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
