Baseball Recap: Stockbridge Find Success

Stockbridge posted their closest victory since April 11th on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Durand Railroaders 5-4.

Drew Hayes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits. Stockbridge is 2-1 when Hayes allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Kyle Cheesman was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Stockbridge: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-10 otherwise.

Stockbridge's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Durand, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Looking ahead, Stockbridge is taking a road trip to take on Dansville at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Aggies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.36 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Durand, they will challenge Perry at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
