West Jessamine came out on top against Paul Laurence Dunbar on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fourth inning. The Colts blew past the Bulldogs 13-2. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Michaela Tate made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Tate was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, West Jessamine got a massive performance out of Paige Hobgood, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Hobgood has posted since back in March. Emerson Collins was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

West Jessamine is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Paul Laurence Dunbar, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, West Jessamine will welcome Garrard County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Paul Laurence Dunbar, they will head out to face off against Frankfort at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.58 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
