Volleyball Game Preview: Gulfport Admirals vs. Northwest Rankin Cougars

The Gulfport Admirals will challenge the Northwest Rankin Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Gulfport is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Our Lady Academy, who was ranked second at the time (Gulfport was ranked 16th). The Admirals came up short against the Crescents on Thursday, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Admirals in their meetings with the Crescents: they've now lost six in a row.

While Gulfport had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Northwest Rankin had to endure a four-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Union 3-0 on Thursday.

Gulfport's defeat dropped their record down to 25-14. As for Northwest Rankin, they now have a winning record of 15-14.

Gulfport beat Northwest Rankin 2-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Admirals repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
