Football Recap: Marianna Bulldogs vs. South Walton Seahawks
Marianna had won nine straight games and Amari Clemons did his part to make it ten on Friday. The Marianna Bulldogs breezed by the South Walton Seahawks to the tune of 51-22 thanks in part to Clemons, who rushed for 238 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run.
Rj Mayes was another major influence, as he rushed for 96 yards and ran in a TD. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2023.
Marianna was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 395 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Marianna's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB eight times. Leading the way was Alec Basford with four sacks. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season. Marianna got some further help from Grayson Hermann: he picked up a sack, made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended a pass.
Despite the loss, South Walton still got an impressive performance from Jd Brown, who threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a rushing score. Carter Hawk also played a phenomenal game despite the final result: he picked up 90 receiving yards.
Marianna's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for South Walton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
