Basketball Recap: Lee Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Daniel Rumbold and Justin Brown

If Lee Christian was feeling good fresh off their 80-38 takedown of Bradford Academy last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lee Christian Falcons fell 70-62 to the New Garden Friends Bears on Thursday. The Falcons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 60-56.

Lee Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Justin Brown, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Daniel Rumbold, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 18 points and five assists. The matchup was Brown's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Camdin Ayers was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Curtis Russell was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 15 rebounds for New Garden Friends. Russell is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 16 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Adrian Wilkerson, who posted ten points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Lee Christian's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for New Garden Friends, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-11.

Lee Christian has already played their next game, a 77-47 win against Halifax Academy on the 13th. As for New Garden Friends, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-58 defeat against Crossroads Christian on the 7th.
