Football Recap: Trimble Takes a Loss

After soaring to 44 points the game before, Trimble was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a blow against the Eastern Eagles, falling 35-6. If the Tomcats were looking for revenge after losing 41-20 to the Eagles when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Eastern's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Edwards led the charge by rushing for 761 yards while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Those 761 rushing yards gave Edwards a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Yonker, who threw for 625 yards and seven TDs while completing 74.5% of his passes.

Trimble's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Eastern, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Looking ahead, Trimble will head out on the road to square off against Waterford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 11 points per game this season, so the Tomcats' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Eastern, they will welcome Belpre at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Golden Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.13 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
