Dayton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Newport on Sunday. The Greendevils put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 17-2 victory. The Greendevils haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Dayton's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Newport, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-18.

Dayton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 loss against Highlands on the 18th. Newport does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
