Flag Football Game Preview: Garner Trojans vs. Clayton Comets

The Garner Trojans will take on the Clayton Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Garner's offense hasn't had much luck over their past five contests, but Tuesday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Garner is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: South Garner, who was ranked ninth at the time (Garner was ranked 20th). The Trojans received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 14-0 to the Titans. The game marked the first time this season in which the Trojans were not able to get on the board.

Despite the loss, Garner saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aniyah Williams rushed for 105 yards on only ten carries.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Clayton's offense. They took a hard 14-0 fall against South Johnston on Monday.

Garner's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Clayton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Garner came up short against Clayton in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 28-24. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
