Softball Recap: Bryan Makes It 13 in a Row at Home

Bryan never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on the Patrick Henry Patriots with a sharp 7-0 victory. The Golden Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.

Thea Staten made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 20 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Reese Ruffer was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Averyann Fisher was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Bryan pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Patrick Henry, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.

Bryan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-1 win against Napoleon on the 22nd. As for Patrick Henry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-0 victory against Evergreen on the 24th.
